Leadership Lessons From The Mousetrap

I believe you could learn some lesson from this story

Once upon a time there lived a poor farmer. He lived in a small house, along with his wife. One day, the poor farmer bought a mousetrap.

The mouse of the house was terrified. "Oh, what should i do?" he shrieked. He panicked and run out into the farm where he saw the Hen, the Goat and the Cow.

He rushed to the Hen screaming, "Hen! Hen! There is a mouse trap in the house! There is a mouse trap in the house!"

The Hen said, "Mr. Mouse, I understand that this is a grave concern for you, but it is not my problem."

The Mouse rushed to the Goat and said, "Mr. Goat, Mr. Goat! There is a mouse trap in the house! There is a mouse trap in the house!"

The Goat replied, " Ho ho ho. It must be terrible for you. I am sorry to hear of your troubles, but it is not my problem."

The Mouse rushed to the Cow. In tears he whimpered, " Oh, Cow, Oh, Cow, Oh, Holy Cow, there is a mouse trap in the house! There is a mouse trap in the house!"

The Cow merely laughed, "Ha ha, have you ever heard of a cow being trapped in a mouse trap? " Ha ha ha, I am sorry for you, but don't get me involved. It is not my problem."

You see, a mouse trap was in the house.

Everyone heard about it. All of them ignored it because it was not their problem.

That night there was a loud BANG! Something got trapped in the mousetrap. The farmer's wife was so happy. "Oh finally, I got that mouse!". She went to pick up the mouse. It was pitch dark. She couldn't see what was trapped in the mouse trap.

A snake had gotten itself trapped in the mouse trap. As soon as she stooped down, the snake bit her. Upon hearing his wife cry out in pain, the farmer rushed into the kitchen with a lantern. He saw the snake and killed it, but the damage was already done.

The farmer wife feel ill with a fever. The poor farmer didn't know what to do. He slaughtered the Hen and made chicken soup for his wife.

The mouse was relieved. He said to the Goat and the Cow, "I told you so. It is your fault."

The Goat replied in anger, "It's your fault! If there weren't a mouse, there wouldn't be a mousetrap in the house!"

The next day many friends and relatives came to visit the farmer's wife. The poor farmer didn't have food to feed them. So he slaughtered the Goat and fed his guests.

Unfortunately, two days later the farmer's wife passed away. Many people came to her funeral. To feed them, the poor farmer slaughtered the Cow.

After this sad turn of events, the farmer was in a state of shock. He had aimed to kill the mouse, but in the process he lost everything he had except for his home and farm. He regretted his decision to buy the mousetrap. The farmer become sad and lonely and depressed. The depression took a toll on his life. He didnt have any interest or motivation to work. He was living in regret without sleep or energy. He didn't find any purpose in his life anymore.

Three months later, the poor farmer passed away.
